Ghost Report
Taken from Newsletter Issue 53 - September 2007
I saw your article in the Luton On Sunday and thought that you may like to hear some of the experiences that I have had with the supernatural here in Luton. I have had countless ‘strange’ experiences in several homes that I have lived in. I have moved about a lot in Luton, living in several parts of Luton and think that the Bury Park area, High Town and Stopsley are the hottest areas for ghostly phenomena.
My first experience with the paranormal was at my childhood home in Abbotswood road, off of Hart Lane. I used to hear many voices in conversation, these would issue from my light fixture in my room and the living room one too, the voices would wax and wane in strength and I, frightened would call on my mom. I feel sorry for her now as I now know that she used to hear them too, but she says that they sounded like they were downstairs having a party, (that was where she would have to go to get me water when I freaked). When my mum met my step dad and he moved in he brought with him, his rottweiler dog Floyd. When the voices would start up, (usually just for me) he would sit under the fixture I was hearing them from and he would stare up and growl deep in his throat. This scared me most because I was not alone in hearing them. I also used to ‘fall down stairs’ a lot, and when I think back, the way I used to fall was strange...I would tumble down like a bowling ball, not sliding down as if I had missed my footing. I had also witnessed, flashes of colour (I actually felt the wind of one of these as it rushed by me) things shifting, and feeling watched when alone, my mothers voice was mimicked by something I could not see.
The most frightening that I can describe was what I have for many years now called an ‘Imp’. This was in a house in Hitchin road....It was a student house that was rented by friends of mine, a friend of mine had what would have been the front room, as her bedroom, and one night as we sat on the bed talking, I was watching her door blow in a breeze, It would open up just a little gap between the door and the frame, we were sitting with our backs against the head board and she was talking to my profile as I watched the door blowing in the breeze and suddenly, this....small utterly black, man shaped thing...looked in at me! It saw me looking and ducked away, it looked back again to see if I was still looking (and of course in shock I was) and I saw that it had dark brown eyes! It just....fizzed out of existence! Also in that house We witnessed, impressions of footprints in the rug, mists, vapour like shapes, things shifting when your were barley looking and a terrible feeling, myself and another friend would wait until it was getting light before we slept because the house made us so uncomfortable!
I have seen and heard a baby’s cry that came from thin air beside me, diamond shaped flashes of light in my bedroom in Bury Park that moved around soundlessly. A voice calling for someone called Tony, A misty figure walking by my welsh dresser on the screen of my phone as I was taking a picture. A mans face and neck, wearing tweed and talking angrily, I clearly lip read him say ‘and I will tell you something else!’ on a wall of my bedroom. A tap on the head at six in the morning, and I was alone. A man in an England football shirt with his hands behind his back leant over me in bed and when I put out my hand to...I don’t know, he backed off. At a friend house I was asleep on his couch and I saw briefly, an Asian couple in a tussle. A penny dropping in my wardrobe. A black mist a five year old dubbed ‘the black thing’ and a door being pulled out of my hands when I tried to open it. And many, many more. I can also automatically write...have been able to since time out of mind, but I do not like it, because it is very strong.
