In this section we will try to give you some ideas about orbs. We will not attempt to prove they don’t exist and we will not attempt to prove that they do but what we will do is provide evidence for and against. Spirit orbs are one of those things that a lot of people believe in and will believe in no matter what. We believe in possibilities. We do not dismiss orbs and we do believe that not all orb occurrences can be explained.

Many people believe that orbs are the manifestation of the soul of a departed person, essentially their spirit. Within the spirit is everything they were , their personality, intelligence and emotions. A sphere is the simplest structure, the one that takes the least energy to create and maintain. For people who do not believe in a soul the spirit orb is the essence of that person. Some also believe that the orb is a spirit in motion, moving energy trapped in a sphere. When the orb stops the energy is released and appears as ectoplasm.

But not all orbs are spirits, you have to eliminate the natural causes to leave the unexplained, the supernatural. Many naturally occurring ‘things’ can appear as orbs, these include dust and moisture. It is only by careful experimentation and analysis that you can eliminate these as the sources of orbs in your photographs. Try taking a number (this can amount to scores and scores) of photographs of known ‘things’ until you get an idea of how they usually appear in the images. This is effectively what we have done and the results are given in the various articles in this section. By the time you have read these pages you should know whether or not the image on the left is a spirit orb or whether there is some other explanation.
