November 5th 1953 a man claimed he had seen a flying saucer hovering through Luton while fetching stock from his fathers store shed. He described the UFO as an object surrounded by a ring of gases in the sky. It was also long and cigar shaped with no wings or a tail and no other projections and flew at tremendous speed. Other flying saucers spotted in Luton made noises such as the soft purring of a car engine and of different shapes. In 1948 one witness described a flying saucer over Luton as a molten mass of burning slithering material with a fairly long tail.
