Ye Olde Plough

The ghost which haunts ‘Ye Olde Plough’ was one who was felt as opposed to being seen or heard. Several people have felt his presence and one, who was staying the night, felt the bed dip as if someone had sat on the mattress. The pub was eventually closed as it was unprofitable and converted into a spiritual centre.

The original building, dating back to around 1480, was a farmhouse called ‘Brayes’, part of the manor of Bakenho. By 1538 it was in the possession of John Francklyn of Thurleigh and it remained in his family until 1640 when it passed to John and William Halsey.
