General
On a map of 1888 Round Green is shown as a separate village to the northeast of Luton yet lying within the Luton municipal boundary. At that time it had a Wesleyan Chapel and two public houses one of which was the Royal Oak which is still a pub today. The history of the area dates back to at least 1170.
