General
Salford is a small village in the west of the county. The name derives from the Saxon Seathford meaning Willow Ford. In the Domesday Book of 1086 it is known as Saleford and a mill stood on the site. A later mill was still in use on the site up until the early 1960s. The church dedicated to St Mary dates from 1200. In the 2001 census the population of the parish of Hulcote and Salford was 186.
