Aston Sandford is a small hamlet within the Aylesbury Vale district. In the 2001 Census the population was recorded as just 50. The name Aston derives from the Old English east and tun meaning 'East Farm' and is thought to refer to the fact that it lies east of Haddenham (both areas being owned by the same manor). The Sandford part of the name comes from the person who held the estate in 1199, John de Sandford.

St Michael and All Angels' Church

Just before evening prayers a ghostly apparition appears by the pulpit where he remains for a few minutes before fading away. The ghost is thought to be that of a former vicar, the Reverend Thomas Scott, from the nineteenth century.
