Beacon Hill and Gallows Hill Investigation
Friday 22nd August 2008
For this event we will travelling just a short distance to visit Beacon Hill (Ivinghoe Beacon) and Gallows Hill (right next to Beacon Hill). The reason for the visit is contained in the name of the latter 'Gallows' Hill. Beacon Hill has a long history as it was once used as an Iron Age hill fort and there is a tumulus next to Gallows Hill.
