The road from Hertford to Stevenage is used quite regularly by a Hertford woman going to visit her mother in Stevenage. At Hook's Cross she has often seen three ghostly women sitting on the grass verge, usually at sundown.

This one has us slightly confused as the A119 doesn't go through Hook's Cross. It is the road to Stevenage as it runs north from Hertford but it stops at Watton-at-Stone when it meets the A602 which runs northwest from Ware to Stevenage. It is this road, the A602, which goes through Hook's Cross and is likely to be the site mentioned above.
