Wilden Investigation
29th April 2005
In April, LPS had an unexpected opportunity to investigate Wilden. There were two main points of interest on this visit. The first was St Nicholas Church, dating back to 1231 and Wilden Manor Farm House. This farmhouse is a 17th century Grade II listed building. It has been vacant for the last fifty years and now in disrepair but it still holds the feeling of the original beauty it would have once had. The farmhouse in particular holds some very interesting alleged paranormal activity. The spectre of a lady has been seen walking into the farmhouse, screams have been heard, mysterious floating stones and phantom fires have all been witnessed in the area. Once again members were divided into smaller teams and this again worked very well on the night.
In one area of the church there are no graves, as it was once used as a plague pit. No one has been buried there for the last five hundred years, although now it is coming up to the end of its quarantine so it will soon be used again. (Many thanks to the lady who lives next to the church who was so kind as to tell us this information). There were some good pictures of orbs taken around the tower itself.
In the farmhouse itself Sam, Elaine and Charmaine heard what sounded like footsteps on the upper floor of the house. The stairs are no longer present and due to the state of the building it would be impossible for anyone to walk on the upper level. They also reported hearing breathing within the house. Paul reported stones being thrown at his team from the barn area. Near the farm building there is a path that goes down to the roadside. At the end of this path is a particular tree that is said to have phenomena associated with it. Marion walked into this area. As she arrived she saw a gold light move along the bushes. At first she felt nothing but began to feel unhappy and devoid of feelings. She also became very hot and developed a heavy headache. She realised she was not alone. Andy, Daniel and Bill came to join Marion in the area. As Marion looked up she saw the grey figure of a man standing behind Bill, looking over his right shoulder.
Photographs taken showed a green orb and an unexplained gold light by the tree. Daniel had high EMF readings in the area where Marion felt the presence. As Marion and Daniel walked back towards the house, Marion felt as if the presence was still with them and it didn’t want to leave. They stopped briefly as they both heard dull thuds in the direction of the barn. Sandi and Stephanie went out to meet Marion and Daniel. As they approached, Sandi was overwhelmed by the colour green. Marion told the rest of the group that the spirit was following them. Sandi then could see and feel sharp jagged shapes, almost like daggers, all around the green energy. As they turned to walk away, Marion and Stephanie could both feel the strong presence of this spirit energy behind them. Lastly Marion was able to draw a picture of the man. Sandi got the name ‘Keith’ and some history of his life. The Luton Paranormal Society would like to express their thanks to Roger, for giving us the opportunity to investigate the Manor Farmhouse.
