Devils Dyke and Nomansland Investigation

16th September 2005

On a dark September’s night members of LPS took part in an experiment to find out if LPS could investigate a number of different sites using two smaller teams who would travel round the sites clockwise and anticlockwise meeting halfway at the Brocket Arms and again at the end of the night. This was the first time this investigation method had been tried on this scale and it was a huge success.

Chiltern Green Road and Bendish: Team 1 investigated the area near the bridge. Pictures produced orbs including an interesting one taken by Elaine showing one that appeared to be behind a bush in the background. At Bendish team 1 split into two groups and walked in opposite directions from the centre sign. Temp taken near the sign averaged at -7°C. (Steph, Andy, Sharon) Walk to the left of the sign temperature fluctuated from 4°C to 6°C. Walk to the right up to the house on the corner, significant wind coming round the bend (temp -9°C at lowest) but strong wind not present elsewhere along the road. Team 2 member Gayna felt a cold spot at one location.

Codicote and the Devils Dyke: At the Church of St Giles. Team 1 walked around the church. Sam reports seeing a light behind a gravestone near one of the entrance gates. Jayne hears a noise inside the church when by the window to the left of the front door and described it as the sound of someone moving about. Jayne asked Lesley if she heard the noise and she stated she did not. Orbs were caught on camera. Team 2 reported nothing unusual. In the Devils Dyke members of team 1 did not like this area. Sam felt as if she was being watched. Steph felt that the place was full of energy. She also felt the presence of a man who sort of ‘trotted’ up behind her and look over her right shoulder. She also felt him walking with her again close behind her on her right but did not have any bad feeling from him. Jayne was taking EMF readings round Steph. The meter seemed to spike around her back and neck. The meter also spiked close to Sam. Sam and Steph also heard footsteps on the higher areas. This was put down to locals as male voices were also heard (a road runs along the top of the dyke). On walking down to the exit, Steph received the name ‘George’.

Nomansland: On walking through the wooded area to the open common, Team 1 caught orbs on camera and a mist. On walking to the open common, Lesley said she was touched (like a tap/prod) on her hand. EMF showed no reading. Some areas were extremely cold, and the temp showed a reading of -15°C! Whilst team 2 were standing on the road in the woods in the middle of Nomansland three members heard what sounded like a double thud coming from within the woods in the direction from which we come. This was investigated but nothing found. Both Gayna and Paul felt uneasy in the woods, in Gayna’s case this was particularly noticeable around the area of a trackway making her want to leave quickly. Paul felt as if he was being watched and followed. A distinct cold spot was found near the same trackway. By now the night was cold but it was not so in the woods yet this area felt a lot colder with no discernable reason.
