Wilsden Avenue Investigation
12th November 2005
When this article was written the couple who owned the house in question did not want it known that it was haunted. Because of this their names are not given below and the accompanying investigation reports were not published. The couple later moved from the area so these reports have now been issued (see links at the bottom of the page).
A haunted house would be most LPS members’ dreams come true, but this was definitely not the case for Mr and Mrs A who called LPS out of despair at paranormal events affecting their lives. Hurriedly a team comprising of Stephanie, Bill, Andy, Marion and new LPS member and medium Karl was put together with only three hours notice before the first of a two part investigation took place. Over two evenings LPS took part in its most eventful investigation ever. This would involve orbs, light anomalies, cold spots, a ghost dog, various spirits and two angels all making their presence known to investigating members and the first LPS spiritual cleansing made for an exciting two nights investigation.
Mr and Mrs A had lived in their house in Luton for 20 years along with their two daughters. The family is normally happy, with little stress and financially comfortable but the latest incidents have put a massive strain on the family. John is a sceptic but has had his scepticism challenged recently. Both feel that there is something there and has always been there but it is a friendly spirit. Now they feel that there is something else that hides itself and is malignant. Although objects have been know to fly off tables so a white witch was called in and told the spirit it was a guest in the house, talked with it and left the family with amulets as protection. At the time they didn’t want it removed. She felt that it was just an evil spirit passing through. The ghost of a pet dog has also been known to visit the house. They have been trying to sell the house and each time they try the activity escalates.
One of their dogs was a large German Shepherd who was kept in the kitchen. To stop him getting in the living room a chair was placed under the door handle so that the door couldn’t be opened. This was done as usual on a Friday evening but when the daughter came down Saturday morning she found that the parrot’s cage had been smashed and thrown 6 feet across the room. One animal (a cat?) was cowering under the television and another pet was dead in a pool of blood. The chair was still under the handle so it could not have been the German Shepherd, anyway the dog grew up with the other pets and there were never any problems even when little kittens used to play around near its muzzle.
An autopsy revealed two puncture wounds 14mm apart which the vet said would have come from a small dog like a terrier. None of their pets had such incisor spacing. One of the wounds had punctured the animal’s heart and it had been shaken around by the killer. None of the other dogs had reacted, there was no barking, which was strange as they would bark at the sound of the front gate opening. There appeared to have been a big struggle but no one heard a thing. There is also a cold spot that is felt regularly on the stairs. The pet dogs would quite often sit at the bottom of the stairs and howl whilst staring up the stairs. Two cats and a kitten would sit and watch ‘something’ as it moved around the living room. One of the daughters saw a woman in black standing by her bedroom door when she woke up during the night. Being half asleep she thought nothing of it at the time. Numerous times she has told the spirit to leave her alone.
During the second night members saw light anomalies and orbs on TV monitors and experienced temperature changes or felt as if they had been touched. Karl felt something didn’t want him to be there, he felt nauseous and as if something was strangling him. He felt as if some entity was feeding off fear. Karl felt that there was a new spirit person that doesn’t want to be known, it was raising a barrier. He sensed a 16-year-old boy who wanted to make mischief, he would pinch you and laugh and he moves things. He wants to hurt people but didn’t do anything to Karl and Marion, as they are not scared of him. Karl sensed he was a scrawny lad from Birmingham who worked on a barge; he also had the impression of coal. Karl asked him why he was nasty and was told that his father had been nasty to him so he wanted revenge. He wouldn’t say how he got there (Mr & Mrs As House). As a modern analogy Karl compared him to a hoodie. Now he says he is bored, he knows he is on his way. Karl feels as if someone has opened a door and let him in. Karl intends to try to close the door. Marion came up with the name Ellis and said they were related to Mrs A. Karl gave the name Samuel.
In fact Mr & Mrs A report that a previous owner had used the living room as a bedroom and where he died. This was 6 months before Mr & Mrs A bought the house. The previous owners were *Mr & Mrs B. Mr A says that the B’s were a family of haberdashers. Sam actually tried to possess Karl. Karl reported that he was wearing a mask, trying to hide who he is. Karl says he is also cheeky. Mrs A has also felt that this spirit was hiding itself. Karl felt that the spirit on the stairs is a childish adult and it is he who turns on the smoke alarms. He was not present when we were there, as he knows what is going on. Previously Karl had got the impression of animal carcasses and butchery (research has shown that this does have some historical relation to the area). Karl also said that someone had lost a ball. Mrs A had lost the ball from her trackball on the first investigation. Karl said that he felt a cat had got it. In the master bedroom Karl felt there was a woman, a grandmother, standing near the chest of drawers. He feels she was the headmistress type, strict and upright. Karl was unaware that Mrs A owned a Parrott when he reported that Sam hated the Parrott, he could not understand the relevance of this until he was told about Mrs A’s pet. Karl asked Sam if he had killed Mrs A’s previous Parrott. Mrs A’s Parrott had been perfectly healthy one day and dead two days later. The Parrott that died was called Bob, the new Parrott keeps saying ‘hello Bob’ which his something he has never been taught. Mrs A felt that Sam had influenced their lives recently especially regarding the failed home sales. Karl’s guide has told him that he should use the angels Gabriel and Michael to cleanse the house. Karl then proceeded to cleanse the house upstairs and downstairs including the understairs cupboard.
