Kensworth and Church End Investigation
13th October 2006
On Friday the 13th of October, LPS investigated the Kensworth hauntings. Members split into two teams and located to two main areas where alleged hauntings have taken place.
Team 1 (Andy, Bill, Steph, Paul and Eve) walked along footpath number 4 which is said to be haunted by a headless milkmaid who’s head was cut off by a jealous lover, a witch and a Black Shuck. The path, which was once used to carry coffins to the church, runs over fields opposite the church. An unusual photograph was taken half way along the path by a field boundary showing a mist behind a post. A dictaphone was left at this point as the team carried on along the last stretch of path. When walking along the last path, Steph had the feeling of a presence behind them near the boundary area where they had just been and on the way back, Bill reported feeling a significant drop in temperature near the same area.
Team 2 (Dawn, Marion, Elaine, Richard and Ron) explored the churchyard and path that runs at the back of the church. Upon taking photographs in the churchyard, Elaine captured a strange mist by some graves (see picture1). The team decided to try and recreate the effect, thinking it may have been breath or movement in the area. All attempts failed and they could not capture anything similar on camera. As Team 2 were standing in an area to the back of the church, Marion sensed a presence behind her and got the name ‘Edward’. Richard was looking at a gravestone in a nearby hedge and commented that the name at the top of the grave was ‘Marion’ and upon closer inspection of the gravestone, the name ‘Edward’ was the name on the bottom of it. Pictures taken at the time of these happenings revealed an orb above Marion’s head.
Strange Mist
After an hour in teams, members re-grouped and carried out vigils around the church area. Steph, Bill and Andy decided to conduct a vigil at the rear left of the church near the stile. Andy filmed the vigil on camcorder. Steph reported seeing a dull glowing shape fading in and out a few meters in front of her. A security light was activated that lit up an area close by for a few moments but after that the shape was nowhere to be seen. Bill also reported seeing small white lights in the area behind Steph. These were possibly thought to be reflections from camera flashes but upon watching the area closely while further pictures were taken, it was determined that this was not the cause as the camera flashes lit up the whole area but what were seen were small singular lights. They remain unexplained.
