Ashwell and Weston Investigation

18th July 2008

St Mary’s Church in Ashwell is the location of an apparition sighting going back to the Victorian era. In 1850 a Georgina Covington was on her way to Choir practise at the church one Friday evening. As she entered the churchyard she noticed a figure walking up the path towards the church door. As she came to enter the church she looked on the figure in the moonlight only to see the figure dressed in black was headless. It proceeded to float up to the church door and disappear.

An interesting factor of the investigation at Ashwell was that it was held on a Friday night and when LPS arrived on site the local choir practise was just about to begin inside the church.

Lannock Hill in Weston was the second investigation site of the evening. On the night of a full moon, a phantom coach and horses are said to be seen coming down Lannock Hill. The coach is said to have carried a newly wed couple, which were tragically killed when the horses bolted at the bottom of the hill causing the coach to crash.
