Luton - Galley Hill Investigation
28th August 2009
On the 28th of August, Luton Paranormal braved a cold and windy summer’s evening to investigate Galley Hill which lies next to the Warden Hills on the outskirts of Luton. The name ‘Galley’ has been derived from ‘Gallows’ as the hill was the site of a gallows where executions would have taken place and where unfortunate women accused of being witches were hung and buried.
Gallows sites are often said to be guarded by spectral hounds and Galley Hill is no exception. There are several regional names for these hounds and the one here is known as a Black Shuck. These are described as large black dogs with blazing red eyes and seeing the hound is thought to be a sign of death for you or a family member within twelve months.
