Bull's Green and Thundridge Investigation

12th March 2010

Bull’s Green

Luton Paranormal first visited Bull’s Green in its very early days in 2004. With some interesting results back then, it was decided to visit the area again to see what an investigation would produce six years later.

Here continues to rot the body of Walter Clibbon, who with his sons robbed and ill-treated many persons in this neighbourhood. Please do not deface this.

Clibbon’s post marks the spot where local criminal Walter Clibbon was buried in 1782. He and his sons terrorized the area, stealing and often beating their victims for money. There are different accounts of how Walter met his end. After a robbery on 28th December 1782, Walter was shot; one version states he died as a result of this wound and another tells of how he was dragged by horse to Bull’s Green and clubbed to death by locals. Either way, a post was driven through his heart to make sure he would never return and a post remains at the site to this day, although replacements have been made over the years.

Despite a post being present to this day, groans, the sound of horses hooves and a horses shadow pulling a figure have been reported.

On Bramfield Road in the 1980s a man driving down this road witnessed a woman in white Victorian clothing walk out in front of his car. After braking to avoid hitting the woman he stopped his car a way down the road and tuned round only to see a man pick up the woman and walk in to the woods by the side of the road. Returning to the spot where the man and woman were, he could find nobody at all.

Thundridge

In 1978 a woman walking home came to the church only to see fires burning within it and the sound of people shouting. As she stood there, she saw a troop of soldiers come rushing towards her. Unable to move from fright, the soldiers passed her and simply melted away.

LPS visited Old Thundridge Church in 2009 but were unable to access the site as it was already occupied by a group of youths having a bit of a laugh for the evening.

On this occasion the investigation team did managed to get on site but were joined by interested youths for a time. After their departure more visitors arrived but seemed less adventurous as they made it to the entrance of the church before making a hasty retreat!
