Luton Paranormal Society
Terms and Conditions

Below you will find the terms and conditions for membership of The Luton Paranormal Society. All members must agree to abide by these rules when they join LPS.

To become a member of the Luton Paranormal Society you must be either 18 years of age or be at least 16 with a parent or guardian who is also joining the society. Membership lasts for one year and must be renewed within four weeks after the due-by-date (reminder letters will be sent out at least a week before renewal is due). Failure to submit funds within four weeks of the renewal date will result in termination of membership.

To apply for membership click on the Membership Application Form link at the bottom of the Membership page and print out the application form. Fill in the form, then post it along with the appropriate fee to the address at the top of the form. Payment should be by cheque (postal orders will not be accepted).

By filling out the form you agree to abide by the societies rules outlined both herein and on the method of investigations page. Failure to comply with these rules may result in your membership being terminated.

Wherever possible events will be free of charge. Nominal fees are usually due at talks etc. with the fee covering the costs (refreshments etc.) to the person who is providing the venue. Some large events (especially indoor investigations) may require a payment to the owner of the venue; these fees will be fully detailed well before the event. Normally these types of events have to be booked well in advance and a deposit will be due at the time. If a deposit is required then a reservation will not be made until the deposit is received and cashed. For these types of events the fees are normally payable by a specified date, failure to pay by this date will result in your name being withdrawn from the reservation list. If you cancel a reservation for a paid event any monies you have paid may not be refundable as we may still have to pay the venue.

To minimise costs to LPS we request that you provide us with an e-mail address. This serves as a quick route to keep you up to date with events and as a means of providing you with a monthly newsletter the cost of which is covered by the membership fee. You do not have to provide an e-mail address and if you do not your newsletter will be posted to you. Details of events can be found on this website, we are afraid that we are unable to keep you informed of events by post except within the newsletter. LPS cannot accept responsibility for you not knowing that an investigation was taking place.

Membership does not guarantee you a place on an event. Some sites can only accommodate a limited number of people and attendees will be chosen on a first come - first served basis. None-the-less we will try to accommodate people on events who have been unable to attend other events due to circumstances beyond their control. If you wish to attend an event then you must inform the President at least seven days in advance. When attending LPS investigations or events members are liable and responsible for their own health and safety. You are also responsible for arranging you own transport to and from investigations or events as LPS accepts no responsibility for transport.

At an event the Team Leaders are in charge and it is to them you should refer any complaints. In the case of a dispute the President's decision is final. When attending our investigations you are asked to adhere to all guidelines and procedures put into place by the Team Leaders present as this could affect the health and safety of other members present. Any member who uses what is felt to be inappropriate behaviour on an investigation may find that they are asked to explain their actions at a special meeting called a Disciplinary Meeting. The member being discussed may bring along another member to help represent them at this meeting. However you should be aware that depending on the severity of the compliant the Panel has the right to revoke that member’s membership if called upon to do so.
